Practice Day on the horizon… CANCELLED

The club is planning to hold an ‘Open Practice Day’ with short races on Saturday 8th March 2014 at Seaforde Moto Parc. This will be for adult solos only, and you must hold a current 2014 MRA competition licence (Day licences will also be available to purchase on the day at a cost of £10 each)

The day will include practice sessions in the morning time. These will be open to start and stop as you please, and will be run in grades. We will then have a break for lunch, with on-site catering facilities available to purchase food. After the lunch break we will be running short sharp races, in grades also, 5 laps/10-12mins is the proposed format. There will be no prize money for these, and no lap scoring will take place.

This event is intended to be a fun practice day for you, the riders to get some bike time before the start of the championship season.

Entry will be free at the gate for everyone. Cost will be £25 per rider for a full days practice with the short races… Excellent value for money and a day not to be missed.

It is with regret that the club has been forced to CANCEL this coming Saturday’s practice day at Seaforde Moto Parc. After an inspection of the track and paddock area this morning, the ground is simply too wet to run the event.

Our first event for 2014 season will be Round 2 of the Ulster Open Motocross Championship on Monday 5th May.

After recent inspection of the location we had lined up, it has been felt this location is unsuitable, due to the amount of wet weather we have had lately, and also with the forecast for a wet week ahead.
We have explored numerous other locations all week, but with no success. Therefore we have decided to cancel this event at early notice. We thank anyone who had already pre-entered the event and will return cheques this week.
We may look at a possible new venue in the coming weeks ahead. Keep an eye out for more information over the coming weeks.

Winter Cross Country series starts at Dunmore Mountain, 5th October [CANCELLED]

The clubs 2013/2014 Cross Country events will kick off this coming Saturday, 5th October at Dunmore Mountain, Spa, Ballynahinch.

With a four round series being promoted again this year, we hope to attract a good crowd of riders as always to support our events.

I few riders have voiced opinions that the general feel for these types of events is that they are all run in glar holes and it consists of nothing more than a day of bog hopping. We want to get the message across to riders that this is not the case with our events. On the day the course will be flowing with technical climbs suitable for all levels of riders. Our team of workers/track builders always keep rider safety as a top priority.

If you haven’t experienced one of our Cross Country events, why not download an entry form here and send it to our cross country competition secretary before Wednesday 2nd October 2013.

Get your entries in quick to reserve your spot on the starting line up… a days craic and fun is guaranted!

DSCF1995

We have been forced to take the decision to cancel this event today at 2pm as we have only received 36 paid entries in total. We would like to thank all those who took the time and made the effort to enter for the event, but unfortunately we cannot afford to run with just 36 entries received.

Irish Championship – FINAL ROUND, 7th September at Seaforde Moto Park

Seaforde

Once again the Mourne Motorcycle Club will host the final round of the Irish Championship at Seaforde Moto Park, County Down. This year it will be held on Saturday 7th September 2013. This event will bring the clubs very successful promotion of motocross racing for 2013 to a close.

Norman Green’s hillside race circuit always provides some great racing, and we are sure that this last round of the 2013 Irish Motocross Championship will be no exception.

The club has once again secured additional sponsorship for this event to help boost the sport and its profile. We will be holding our official press launch for this later this week (additional information and photos to follow after)

Entry forms for this event have been in general circulation for a few weeks now, being at previous rounds of the championship and other races. They are also available to download from our club website by clicking here, or in your local motocross shop.

As is standard practice from previous championship races, the club will NOT be accepting ANY entries on the day. There is no excuse for failure to pre-enter this event if you are wishing to compete. There will be no exceptions on this rule, so please get your entries in this week to avoid disappointment.

Any Southern Ireland competitors who would prefer to post entries to Sylvia Lockhart, this has been arranged and will be acceptable, but they have to with Sylvia by the closing date.
